XRAY.FM proudly partnered with Friends of Noise to put on a spectacular concert with electrifying performances, all from local youth artists, on January 2nd, at Holocene. The event, called Icebreaker, was an energetic benefit show with DJs, bands, and artists, all proving talent doesn’t have a minimum age requirement.
The all-ages atmosphere was an incredible experience to witness as high-schoolers and college students created a mini-festival effect that dazzled and entertained the audience with awesome performances all evening from the likes of White Lotus, Out of Luck, Wav Pro, Voodoo and the Dollz. DJs included some of our very own, who you can tune into every Monday, 2pm-3pm on Friends of Noise Presents.
Friends of Noise is a non-profit that empowers, teaches and inspires young artists. In this program Portland youth get a behind-the-scenes preview and some hands-on experience with aspects of the music industry typically available only to experienced adults. Some opportunities include booking events, working stage management, and sound engineering. Additionally, Friends of Noise has contributed immeasurably to the career of artists in their network, including helping the soulful chanteuse, White Lotus with booking at the Doug Fir Lounge and other high-profile Portland venues.
Friends of Noise operates with a clear mission: to raise the awareness of young, locally-based artists, give them the exposure and platform they deserve, and to create experiences learning the ropes of the music industry.
XRAY.FM was ecstatic to be a partner for this successful event that helped raise money to continue Friends of Noise’s goals in getting youth involved in music and production. Be on the lookout for more events in 2020! Their next event will build on the success of Icebreaker and continue the magic that comes from opening doors for young people that are typically shut.
